Caren Cherry–Jennings calls Fort Worth, Texas home, though now residing close by in neighboring Aledo, with her husband John, and two daughters – Catherine and Meredith.

Caren attended universities in both Texas and Utah. While studying Behavioral Science, she also performed in several musical productions and plays.  At Brigham Young University, she held several positions within the student government, including Co-Chairman – Miss BYU Pageant, Activities Director of the College Republicans and was on the Freshman Orientation Committee.  At Utah Valley State College, she was the Assistant Director of the International Committee within the Latter-day Saint Student Association. In each of the aforementioned positions, Caren was asked to assume those roles.

In 1988, Caren volunteered to be a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and moved to Guatemala where she served for 18 months. Caren’s missionary experiences are some of the greatest treasures in her life.
Having been employed for several years in retail management, Caren transitioned into a new career of social work.  She began as a Group Home Director for children and then spent the next several years with private companies as a case worker and behavioralist. Her favorite position was at Cook Children’s Medical Center, in Fort Worth, Texas, on the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit. Caren adores children and feels very drawn to those struggling with emotional and mental illness.

Currently, Caren is employed as a Spanish translator and ESL instructor for adults, is a PTO Director at her daughter’s school and volunteers with a number of local charities.

With her family, Caren enjoys traveling, singing, laughing, playing board games, reading and baking.  She also enjoys keeping in touch with friends, writing, family history research, and listening to books on tape.  Caren loves the fall back East, spring in Fort Worth, summer in the Rockies, palm trees on the west coast, Disneyland, old musicals and movies from the 1960’s.

The Hemispherectomy Foundation has been an enormous and unexpected blessing in Caren’s life, as it combines two of her favorite passions - people and service.  As Co-Founder, she has enjoyed the process of establishing the foundation with Cris and Kristi Hall, and seeing it grow from an idea, to a dream and now –a charity with a global reach. It is a delight each day to work with her team to build and further establish this amazing organization.
