Amanda McConoughey
International Contact - Canada
Amanda's son Benjamin (Benji) was born in 2008, following a third-trimester stroke (intraventricular hemorrhage) which caused hydrocephalus and ultimately intractable epilepsy (Infantile Spasms). In 2010, at 13 months, Benji underwent a functional right hemispherectomy at the Montreal Children's Hospital. Since then, he has had no seizures and has made incredible strides in his development. Today he is an active, funny, and engaging little boy who is already reading at 5 years old.
Amanda is a music teacher living in Montreal, Quebec with her husband and two children. She moved to Canada from the USA in 2004. She hopes to help connect families who have been touched by this procedure and to continue to build a community of support here in Canada.
